Throughout the old and the new testaments are references to the city of Sodom. The original story is told in Genesis 18:17 - 19:29. The sin of Sodom grieved the Lord so much that He destroyed the city and all that were in it. Here is the description of God's wrath upon Sodom as the result of Sodom's sin.
"The Lord sent a rain of burning sulfur down from the sky on Sodom and Gomorrah and destroyed those cities. He also destroyed the whole Jordan Valley, everyone living in the cities, and even all the plants." ~ Genesis 19:24-25 (New Century Version)
So, what was Sodom's sin that caused the Lord to destroy the evil people of that city?

"This was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were proud and had
plenty of food and lived in great comfort, but she did not help the poor and needy. So
Sodom and her daughters were proud and did things I hate in front of me. So I got rid of
them when I saw what they did." ~ Ezekiel 16:49-50 New Century
